It is with great excitement that we announce that our debut project “The Ring of Beasts,” a 29min abstraction of the bigger narrative project, will be honoured as the closing film of the BAI Showcase in Johannesburg South Africa, the film will be screened in Braamfontein on the 7th of May, 2022. Here is a little more about the exciting and eclectic cultural event:

“The B.A.I. Showcase is a full day cultural festival celebrating music, comedy, digital content & cinema within the youth and indie sector. Taking place at Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct, Our May line-up is one of our strongest to date boasting performances from award-winning comedians and chart-topping musicians like Tsitsi Chiumya, ASAP Shembe & Tom Saison. It also has a diverse set of screening items from award-winners and film festival favourites like Metamorph & The Ring of Beasts to brand new premieres and an exclusive preview of an upcoming entertainment docu-series titled The Bubbling Culture and many more surprises.”

The showcase will feature works from all around the creative sphere, including podcasts, docuseries, other short films and creative works.

“The Ring of Beasts is our final official screening of this Winter BAI Showcase. I was blown away by the scale of the production and the intensity of the performances the first time I saw it a Kingdom Kome private screening and knew we had to have it on, as we haven’t screened anything like it before. It also represents a full circle moment as I had previously curated multiple Digital festivals with Cameron Scott, the film’s lead and scriptwriter, and I now get to host one of his own productions at my own festival. It’s a screening you won’t want to miss if you’re in the mood for epic storytelling.”

Yalezo Njuguna, B.A.I. Festival Director

The short film has screened in several prestigious festivals around the world, including the United States, the UK, Hungary, India and Colombia, Kingdom Kome co-founder and lead producer and actor on “The Ring of Beasts,” Cameron Scott had this to say:

“We’ve been super selective about where we screen The Ring of Beasts as it’s technically a test for the bigger production. But having it screen at this event is not only important to me personally having worked with Yazz in the past and having a great deal of respect for his approach to culture and the arts within South Africa, but more so for us as Kingdom to be featured in a curation of artists and talent that we know has been well vetted by the Njuguna bros. Here’s to the rising!”

To those more astute reading this, Yalezo and Kibare Njuguna were the brains and talent behind the writing and research on the later half of the The Viral Wellness podcast by Kagiso Rabada and Cameron Scott and contributed until the end of Season 2 of the show.

“Some of our best episodes to date were because of the work of Yalezo and Kibs, we’ll always be so grateful to them and are excited to see what the future holds for both of us.”
