Kingdom Kome is thrilled to announce that our debut production with Orr Koren of Koren Films is to have its international debut at the prestigious Los Angeles International Short Film Festival from the 1st to the 31st of July, 2021.
The film, starring Hungani Ndlovu (Scandal), Jonathan Pienaar (Blood Diamond), Brumilda van Rensburg (Egoli), Cameron Scott (The Kissing Booth 3), Charlie Bouguenon (Transformers: The Last Knight), Sandi Schultz (Trackers), Bonko Khoza (The Mauritanian) Izel Bezuidenhout (Dis Ek Anna) and introduces Dylan Trent.
The film is the directorial debut of Adriano Miguel, who has spent basically his whole career in the entertainment space. The Hangman director Zwelethu Radebe also had a hand in consulting as a friend to the set. The window-into-the-world was provided by the capable and talented hands of DOP Rick Joaquim, whose work has featured on the ARRI showreel.
Other notable hands on the set were Craig Mcrae of Titan Stunts who has worked on shows like Warrior, Mad Max: Fury Road and BBC’s The Watch. Richard Muller provided his keen eye as DIT, a skill he has utilized for big productions like Netflix’s critically acclaimed Dark.
Exceptional work was done by Andea de Jager as Line Producer, who has an extensive production accountancy resume and has since worked on further productions as a line producer for the likes of Netflix.
The 28 minute short film was edited by Post Modern Studios and scored at Tiger Fight. A trailer is expected from The First Order Films later this month.
Filmed and funded in South Africa during the height of the COVID19 pandemic in 2020. Effective and clever protocols meant the entire team was safe on set with no instances.
“I’m proud of the work we’ve done. And honestly I can’t wait to do it again!”
Orr Koren, Producer.
And the ATL production team intends too. Kingdom Kome developed this short as an abstraction of a much larger project, part of a world of stories known as the After Rift era.
“An abstraction for me is a way to take a sneak peak into the bigger world and bigger story, without compromising the integrity of the smaller version so it can still stand on its own two feet. I’m always amazed by what filmmakers can put into a few minutes. I have no doubt the competition is going to be top notch, but to be among them at LA Shorts shows that we’re taking a step in the right direction towards our goal of making content that can be featured, enjoyed and taken to market at an international level with the best in the biz. We’re just getting started. Wait till you see the what this little Beast grows up to be.”
Cameron Scott, Writer & Producer.
Either way. “The Beast from the East” is set to be available for screening at #LAShorts for the entirety of July.
